How to program a telemetry alarm block in the RFC-1/B

The RFC-1 can be programmed to function automatically in response to the telemetry conditions. These are called alarms and there are eight of them in the RFC-1. Some alarms are only valid during certain hours of the day. An alarm can be blocked during those hours so that it cannot activate unnecessarily. Tower lights, for example, are not on during the day so the alarm could be blocked so that it does not trigger during daylight hours.

The programming address table in Appendix A provides a list of all the memory address and their functions. Alarm blocks share the area of memory in the RFC-1 that is usually used for date/time triggers. Date/time triggers occupy addresses 0639-0064 (adjustable).

Programming instructions are located either in Section 6 of the Installation and Operation manual or in Note 7 of Section 12 in the Software Instruction Book (for earlier systems).To simplify the programming task, the form on this page can generate appropriate values for programming and generate programming instructions.

You must know how the alarms are programmed to make the correct choice in the section labeled "Telemetry Alarm". Alarm settings can be read without changing any values by using the basic programming commands 90-97 to interrogate alarms A-H respectively.

Telemetry Alarm: (select the alarm to be blocked from the list)
The RFC-1 has 8 alarms that designated A-H. Each alarm may be assigned to any telemetry channel 00 to 63. This selection depends on how the alarms are programmed in your system. Remember, select the alarm that is monitoring the channel, not the number of the channel.



Start Time: (select the starting hour for the alarm block)
This is the starting hour for the alarm block based on a 24 hour clock.


End Time: (select the ending hour for the alarm block)
This is the ending hour for the alarm block based on a 24 hour clock.


Date/Time Trigger: (select a date/time trigger number from the list)
Alarm blocks share memory with date/time triggers. This selection determines what date/time trigger memory is used to store the block. Any one will work so you can't make a wrong choice BUT...

Make sure you select an unused date/time trigger from the list below. Choose a different number each time a new event (or block) is programmed. Selecting a date/time trigger that is in use will not harm the system but it will cause you to write new information over the existing information and change the behavior of the system.

No timed event are programmed at the factory. If the system has no timed events and no blocks programmed then start with number 1. Use the next number in the list each time you setup a new event--do not use the same number twice!

All systems store at least 48 date/time triggers--more depending on the number of telemetry channels used. Most systems operate at factory settings that allow for 72 date/time triggers (and 16 telemetry channels). Date/time triggers above 72 can be used only if you have reprogrammed your system to recognize them.
