Many users are interested in having a personal computer call the transmitter site via modem and logging the readings automatically. Both the RS-232 Serial Data Adapter and the MA-1 Modem Adapter will allow the RFC-1/B to communicate via modem. The operating protocol is the same as if the RFC-1/B were being controlled in the voice mode by telephone. This makes it very easy to have most any popular communications software work as the software front end to collect data from an RFC-1/B.

Communications software packages are increasingly sophisticated and their scripting abilities are almost limitless. The scripting languages are typically very easy to work with but, as with any programming or macro language, they can be intimidating upon first glance.

In order to help avoid 'blank-page' syndrome where you just can't seem to get started, we offer a few scripts for some of the more popular scripting languages that can be used to log data from the RFC-1/B.

Scripts are available online in their native binary format or in Adobe Acrobat .pdf files. An Acrobat reader is required to read PDF files. Acrobat readers are available for several platforms and can be downloaded free of charge from Adobe.

This script will logon and request readings from an RFC-1/B. The .WAS file is a Windows ASPECT script language file for ProComm Plus for Windows version 2.x. You must have ProComm Plus already installed for this script to work. (~5kb) The .PDF file requires and Acrobat reader.
